Racer

Racer
by Paul J. Willis

(Coluba constrictor)

Racer, you erase yourself
     when I step near.

The first I know, you’ve flung
     a fluid curve of tail,

that olive muscle,
     down the rocky mountainside

in a matter of course,
     a maze of motion.
